Center For Justice and Peace (CFJP)

The Center for Justice and Peace (CFJP) exists to educate, equip and transform French speaking leaders, communities and societies in order to create a more peaceful, just and reconciled world. CFJP activities and programs are rooted in and compelled by a theological vision of and for the world that is grounded in the shalom of God and the missionary calling of the Church for the transformation of society. CFJP’s activities include a newly launched Masters in Conflict Transformation (MASTC) degree program. The first cohort of the MASTC degree program is comprised of students from 8 different African as well as 1 student from France.

History

The origins of the Center for Justice and Peace stem from discussions amongst members of the Francophone Mennonite Network (FMN) about the lack of theological resources available to the Church and to Christian leaders in French speaking sub-Saharan Africa as well as in Europe, and Canada that are grounded in the areas of peace, justice, and reconciliation. The discussions among FMN members spanned over a decade and eventually led to broader conversations and engagement between FMN and many of the evangelical and Protestant theological institutions, seminaries, and Bible schools in francophone Africa and beyond.

CFJP was officially launched in 2017 in response to these realities with 15 partner institutions in Africa, Europe and North America (12 of which are based in sub-Saharan Africa). CFJP is housed at l’Université de l’Alliance Chrétienne d’Abidjan (l’UACA).
